Hov's Vegan Challenge

Friday, December 6, 2013

Lately, it feels like everyone around me is becoming more aware of what they're putting into their bodies. I love that being food conscious is not just for the health nuts anymore.

This week Jay-Z announced a 22-day vegan challenge that he (and Bey) set out on from his December 4th birthday until Christmas day after a good vegan friend (Gwyneth? Russell? hmmm.) challenged him to have a plant-based breakfast every day.

Here's what he had to say about the challenge:

So you can call it a spiritual and physical cleanse. I will post my progress… Any professional vegans out there that have any great food spots please help out! Please ha. I don’t know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We’ll see…
Good luck, Hov! Anyone else considering a vegan challenge anytime soon?

I think this is awesome & come the new year I'm going to challenge myself as well. I'm not looking to convert to a vegan (as I love leather & fur like no one's business..) but I am trying to cut back on meat in my diet. So I'm starting w. with a plant-based breakfast and take it from there.

Same here, Laura. Breakfast seems like the easiest meal to control because you can eat it at home. My goal is also a veggie-centric diet and to only eat meat once or twice a week. Good luck with this challenge.
